Performance of complex, enterprise applications depends on a large number of factors. For example, an efficient application design with poorly written SQLs or inappropriate configuration of the application server can adversely affect performance. Analyzing the bottleneck(s) causing poor performance is the biggest chunk of work. Once the bottlenecks are identified, the solution may be as simple as adding a configuration parameter, changing a configuration parameter or as extreme as redesigning the application.
We have successfully used a methodical performance tuning process to identify bottlenecks quickly and provide guidance in achieving immediate relief, short-term and long term solutions.
